At the moment Michael says

I'm a scientist, writer, and programmer.

I work on ideas and tools that help people think and create, both individually and collectively.

I'm a Research Fellow at Y Combinator Research. I'm also a member of the Steering Committee for the journal Distill, and write an occasional column for Quanta Magazine.
